Tomeu Coll (born in 1981). Photographer.
After deciding which path of photography I would follow to make a living, and going around staring, looking how the world once became real, I never stopped taking photographs. A few years ago, Donna Ferrato told me how some photographers became obsessive with everything around them. In those times I never felt that obsession. Now it is different.
Curiosity is maybe one of the things that photography could give you. With a camera, anyone can be a witness of anything, it doesn't matter where.
In my projects, the most important thing I'm searching for, is the respect for the others. Not just the respect for the people who I could capture with the light and the camera, but also their history, how the human being is still searching other ways to survive.
But I'm just one of them, and that is probably the reason why I'm trying to understand what we are, just the same as many other millions of people throughout the world.

Después de decidir el camino de la fotografía para seguir a cuestas con la vida y moverse por doquier, mirando como el mundo se hacía realidad, nunca he parado de tomar fotografías. Hace algunos años, Donna Ferrato me contó como algunos fotógrafo se vuelven obsesivos con todo lo que les rodea. En aquellos tiempos nunca sentí tal obsesión. Ahora es diferente. La curiosidad es quizás una de las innumerables cosas que la fotografía puede ofrecerte. Con una cámara cualquiera puede ser testigo de cualquier cosa, no importa donde. En mis proyectos, lo más importante que intento buscar, es el respeto a los demás. No solo el respeto por esa gente que con la ayuda de la luz y la cámara consigo atrapar en el negativo, también el respeto por su historia, por como el ser humano está buscando continuamente nuevos caminos para sobrevivir. Pero yo también soy uno de ellos, y esa es probablemente la razón por la que intento comprender qué somos, como tantos millones de personas alrededor del mundo.
